The LIFE WIRE project focuses on developing a system for waste water treatment that allows flexible and efficient recycling of urban waste water of different qualities and its use in the chemical industry, the liquid waste management and electro-coating industry. This will be achieved by combining and optimizing the ultrafiltration (UF), carbon nanostructured materials (CNM), and the technologies of reverse osmosis (RO).

The prototype will be operated for one and a half years, located at the Wastewater Treatment Plant of Baix Llobregat in “El Prat de Llobregat” (Barcelona, Spain). The project aims to promote the industrial reuse of water by the use of non-conventional water resources through treatment and distribution of tertiary effluent from an urban wastewater reclamation plant.
